Rover Scout J. Scarff of 1st Holyhead Troop was awarded the Silver Cross for his gallant attempt at saving the life of a young boy.

Unfortunately, Scarff’s attempt was unsuccessful, but brave nonetheless. The boy had got into trouble off of Trinity Pier in Holyhead and ultimately drowned, but not before Scarff had put his own life at considerable risk to save the boy.

The Silver Cross, can be made to any Member, Associate Member, Occasional Helper, Skills Instructor, Administrator, Adviser or Honorary Scouter, for acts of bravery in the face of danger where life has been at considerable risk.
