What started as a fundraising night out for the Great Tommy Sleep Out quickly turned into something much bigger – a two-day expedition combining a DofE Bronze practice and training for the 6 Summits Challenge this May!

On Saturday 14 March, sixteen DeMôn Explorers set off from Trefriw, heading through Eryri to the Ogwen Valley and on to Betws-y-Coed. Day one brought light winds and sunshine, with the group camping at Gwern Gof Uchaf,  a stunning spot beneath Tryfan with incredible views.

BUT, overnight, conditions changed dramatically, with driving rain and strong winds coming through (sigh – weather in Wales in March is unpredictable!) so this was a real test of resilience and teamwork.

Despite the weather, spirits stayed high, and Sunday ended on a real highlight, with five of the newest Explorers being invested into the group.

Huge congratulations to everyone who took part and helped raise money for homeless veterans – a fantastic effort all round.

A big thank you as well to Rob Haddrell for supporting the expedition and for sharing the information and photos.
